Project Overview

GOOD VIBES ONLY

The biggest compliment is when our friends and family enlist our services. Even better when we get to utilize the spaces we design. We treat every client’s home like it’s our own so naturally we enjoy spending time in these spaces as much as they do. One of our unique talents is designing for clients rather than designing in a particular “style”. We work primarily off of a feeling or vibe which is then dissected into more concrete restraints like existing architecture, client’s goals and wants, budgets, and any physical restrictions.

Phoenixville, PA Home Space Design

This project was designed for a great friend and the collaboration was a very fun journey. The coolest part is that the space is ever evolving. A neon sign “The Attic” hangs over a door on the first level of our client’s carriage house style garage. The driveway level is filled with arcade games, televisions and a custom walk up bar designed to be accessed from the driveway. The second level is home to “The Attic” which was why we were brought on to the project.

The main challenge was turning the second story part of the barn (which had been updated prior to our involvement with electricity, a bar area, HVAC, and millwork) into a unique spot to relax and comfortably entertain friends. Our palette was pretty much a dream, an old barn styled structure looking to be transformed into a speakeasy-like lounge. The most important task was keeping it quirky and fun. Our team went to town on space planning just the way every good design starts. We always focus on function first and then work out the finer details. We created multiple zones including a large space for relaxing and entertaining, two comfortable lounge chairs for watching television, swivel chairs, a vintage style sofa, and ottomans. Directly behind the sofa, we created another seating area with two chairs facing the bar. This is a great spot to either converse with people seated at the bar or on the other side of the sofa. A concrete foyer table acts as a serving spot creating an extra place to put food and drinks or a drink down for any crowd who may be standing. There are lots of tables and places to sit making the room super functional. We incorporated Bertoia style bar stools which created a cool juxtaposition to the extensive wood craftsmanship.

There are so many unique touches. On either side of the authentic “bubble hockey table” we placed Tibetan tiger mats to keep things fun. Everywhere you look there is something quirky to find. One of our favorite touches were the Jonathan Adler jars that read funny things like LSD spelled backwards, Weed, and Puppy Uppers. The client’s A/V systems along with the eclectic display of art really completed the whole space. We may be impartial but “The Attic” is definitely one of the coolest places to chill.
